Fruit Recipe Ideas: The new Bel Oro fruit | The Road Ahead Lifestyle ...

Posted on January 11, 2012 | NO COMMENTS

A sweet melon, Bel Oro fruit is a recent addition to the Queensland fruit market, and is thought to have originated in Asia.

With its sweet and flavoursome flesh and warm colouring, Bel Oro is an interesting addition to the fruit bowl. Drawing similarities in both colour and texture to a rockmelon, the Bel Oro fruit can be used in both sweet and savoury recipes, or enjoyed as a fresh snack on its own.

A Bel Oro melon has minimal seeds inside the fruit, leaving more space for the tasty flesh part of the fruit. Easy to slice, it can be served as a healthy snack, added to fruit salads or with muesli for breakfast. Seafood lovers might enjoy adding thinly sliced pieces of Bel Oro to prawn and avocado salads.

As a brand, Bel Oro was brought to the commercial market by companies Monsanto and BeeMart. The official Bel Oro website details where you can purchase the fruit.
